Get Involved
From a single afternoon to a season in the mountains, there's a way to help.
Volunteer
Volunteering is not an easy act. One has to instill compassion, love and care to others before one goes for volunteering. Those who wholeheartedly believe, 'Live and let live others' can lead then to become volunteers. Those who do not expect any profit from their service or work can be the true volunteers. Our volunteers believe that they have to work for free. They always feel delighted to do something for the world. Even, they do not work/serve for cheap popularity but they work to bring sustainable positive changes in the society and environment promoting quality of life of the people.
Donate
The value of life is not in its duration, but it depends on how much you have donated to others for their lives. Even the non- humans are ready share the foods and shelter among others. We are the human and should be humane. You are never honored but the legacy you crave and the paths you pave while we are alive. Actually, the posthumous honors and the titles are worthless; help needy in any way you like , be an indicator positive change and witness happiness in their eyes. But, don't let your donations go into the of a corrupted people for luxuries. So, make donations to the good for good
HELP & SUPPORT
Care for each other makes us happier. Indifference results isolation which harms humanity. It is a universal reality that every living being requires help and support from others. In fact, one cannot imagine their lives without such help and support. Helping and supporting each other promotes whole humanity, ultimately, instills fraternity which is inevitable for peace, prosperity and development. Your help and support is not for an individual but for the whole individual who are in need. It is said that even a single spark can burn a big thing. Similarly, a small help/support from you can be a great twist in one's life and be a successful individual in the future. So, try to kindle the needy peoples' lives and let them rise as equally as others as everyone is born equal and has equal right to live.
How We Work
The same process for every village, every time.
We Listen
Village committees tell us what's actually needed.
We Plan
Local staff and volunteers design the project together.
We Build
Teams travel out — often days on foot — to do the work.
We Report
Every project closes with photos, costs, and outcomes.
We operate on a simple rule: no project begins until the community itself has asked for it. That keeps our work small enough to do well, and honest enough to keep doing.
Earthquake Relief, Eleven Years On
Since Nepal was terribly hit by devastating earthquake, April 25 Earthquake, Himalayan Community Project is wholeheartedly providing relief aids for more than 50 families . HCP provided food stuffs, tents and GI steel strip during the disaster. Still the poverty stricken people are homeless and they are sheltering in small huts since the government of Nepal has not allocated sufficient budget to reconstruct their houses. Thus, our upcoming project is to build Community Settlement which can be inhabited during disaster. We are raising fund for this project at the moment. No sooner we have sufficient fund, we start this project. In the first phase, we are planning to build community settlement in rural part of Dhading district.
Ongoing Projects
Ongoing programs running right now, funded entirely by donations and volunteer hours.
Dog Feeding Program
Street dogs in Kathmandu go hungry every day. Our volunteers prepare and distribute nutritious meals on regular feeding routes, reducing suffering and strengthening community bonds.
Hike for Health
Hike for Health is a community wellness initiative by Himalayan Community Project that brings people together every Saturday for a guided hike in and around the Kathmandu Valley. The program promotes physical fitness, mental well-being, and a deeper connection with nature and community. Whether you are a seasoned hiker or a first-timer, everyone is welcome to join the walk.
Teacher Sponsoring Program
Himalayan Community Project has been sponsoring few teachers for the schools of remote area of Nepal to enhance the quality of education since last few years. On the one hand, the school in rural part of Nepal hardly afford the teachers and the qualified teaching manpower hardly get job. Thus we want to supply both requirements by sponsoring teachers to the schools of rural area of Nepal.
Student Scholarships
We offer scholarship scheme to the needy students of remote area of Nepal. We want them to get enlightened though the light of education. We prioritize those who are genuinely enthusiastic in study but lack of financial support from parents. Besides, we also insist on marginalized and disadvantaged groups of the society while offering scholarship schemes.
Books & Materials
Since the parents of school children are not sufficiently well off in rural part of Nepal and the desires of the children from grass root and high economic status are same, we really don't want the children from low economic background to be deprived of stationeries during their study period. Thus, we are providing educational materials like stationeries, school bags, uniforms, crayons and the like to the needy students who are studying in rural part of Nepal
Constructing School Blocks
Himalayan Community Project is offering financial support to construct school blocks especially in remote area of Dhading and Gorkha district. So far, we have constructed a number of school blocks in remote area of Nepal. Recently, Mr. Andrew Cook has funded some amount of money to Himalayan Community Project and HCP has donated the amount to construct earthquake resistant school building in remote area of Dhading District.
Our Mission
Built by the families who needed it first
We started in 2012 as a small group of trekking guides collecting donations for their home villages. After the 2015 earthquake, that grew into something larger — but the principle never changed: the community decides what it needs, and we help make it happen.
- ✓Staffed almost entirely by people from the villages we serve
- ✓Full financial transparency, published every quarter
- ✓No project starts without the community requesting it
Community First
Every project starts with what villages ask for, not what we assume they need.
Full Accountability
Donations are tracked from wallet to worksite and reported publicly.
Built to Last
We build to code, teach for the long term, and treat animals with the same care.
